Musical Director

Stuart Hill  BSc(Ed), MEd (Admin)

Stuart comes to the Buderim Male Choir with qualifications (above) and a career in education behind him, including as Deputy Principal and Head Teacher in various schools. Stuart's musical interests started early when he learned the piano accordion as a child, and the piano as a young man. He took up the violin as a mature-age student and played first violin in the Mosman Symphony Orchestra where he arranged music. He also set up a Palm Court Orchestra. Stuart took up singing later in life and, for many years, sang as a bass in the Ku-ring-gai Male Choir where he also served as President. Stuart joined the Buderim Male Choir in 2022 and has been Music Director since September 2023.

Stuart believes that everyone can sing and that the right instruction will improve anyone's voice. This is the approach that Stuart brings to the choir in his role as Musical Director. Rehearsals always start off with exercises aimed at improving breath control and vocal exercises designed to improve pitch and extend vocal range. That foundation is where improvement in choral sound starts.
